Negative and Positive Changes
The Positive Impacts of Burleigh Heads.
The positive changes to Burleigh Heads are the two parks, facilities, trees and vegetation have been planted, the National Park, roads and bridges and the dredging occurring.
Facilities have been built all around the Burleigh Heads area. These include toilets, a BBQ, showers, benches, and bins. These have created more access for people visiting the area. The bins that have been placed have made a huge difference in the reduction of litter.
Dredging is a form of maintenance used to protect Burleigh Beach. Sand has been gathered and transported to Burleigh Beach from the bottom of Tallebudgera Creek. This will prevent flooding and erosion of our beaches in the future.

The Negative Impacts of Burleigh Heads.
The negative changes to Burleigh Beach are the footpaths and houses built into the headland, the bins are eyesore, the groyne found on the Palm Beach side of Tallebudgera Creek, the roads being built, too many people concentrated in one place, real estate prices increased and restriction on land use.
Increasing the amount of roads in the Bureligh Heads area increases the population immensely leading to pollution, vandalism and litter.
Real estate prices increase in the area which reacts negatively on the population increase of Burleigh Heads. People may not be able to afford a house at Burleigh therefor creating less of a chance of the population increasing.

Both Negative and Positive
The two parks that have been added to the Burleigh Heads area have had an effect on the population positively and negatively. It attracts families and children to the area. Although this is a positive change it also requires maintenance to clean the park and repair any damage occurred.
Economic Cost
Economic Costs and Benefits
Sand Pumping is one form of beach maintenance used on Burleigh Beach to protect it. It is used to repair damage from erosion caused by the storms in 2013. Although the cost is around $305 000 per year, it is the most suitable process used to keep our beaches well protected.
Burleigh homes are more expensive due to the access of beaches. Today, the price of a medium density home in Burleigh Heads is $525 000.
Erecting a new school costs around $2878 including fences. This is used for education access for children around the Burleigh Heads area.
Dredging is another form of beach maintenance used on Burleigh Beach. It is used to replenish beaches and costs $800 000.
Removal of debris, restoration of beach access and public safety works is needed to clean up erosion caused from the storm in 2013.
